Celebrating Our Mid-Year Impact: Supporting 250 Students Through Scholarships and Community Partnerships

Since the last quarter of last year, we have proudly supported over 250 students through scholarships and grants. This milestone reflects a strong commitment to helping students overcome financial barriers and succeed in their educational journeys. The 2026 cohort includes six new and three returning BPI Scholars, each receiving vital support to reach their goals. Alongside financial aid, our partnerships with community organizations provide essential wraparound services that keep students on track.

Growing Our Scholarship & Grant Programs

Our programs have expanded steadily since Q4 of last year. Supporting over 250 students means more than just financial assistance; it means opening doors to opportunities that might otherwise be out of reach. The 2026 cohort is a mix of fresh faces and familiar scholars returning for continued support. This blend creates a dynamic community where new students benefit from the experience and encouragement of those who have already navigated similar challenges.

Each scholarship recipient receives tailored support, including guidance on academic planning and career development. This personalized approach helps students stay motivated and focused on their long-term goals.

New and Returning Community Partners

Scholarships alone cannot address all the challenges faced by disadvantaged students. That is why we work closely with community partners who provide critical wraparound services. These services include tutoring, counseling, job placement assistance, and life skills training.

We are excited to welcome Mile High Youth Corps as a new partner this year. They bring valuable programs that engage young people in community service and workforce development, helping students build confidence and practical skills.

Returning partners Emily Griffith Foundation (EGF) and CrossPurpose continue to deliver essential support. EGF supports student's attending Emily Griffith Technical College that offers adult education and career training, while CrossPurpose focuses on helping individuals overcome barriers to employment. Together, these organizations create a strong support network that addresses the many needs of our scholars.

How Wraparound Services Make a Difference

Wraparound services are designed to support students beyond the classroom. For example, a student struggling with transportation to campus can receive assistance through these programs, ensuring they do not miss critical classes. Another student facing a barrier of certification testing fees or material costs can find relief through our partner organizations.

These services reduce stress and allow students to concentrate on their studies. They also foster a sense of community and belonging, which is crucial for student retention and success.

Success Stories from the 2025 Cohort

Among this year's three returning BPI Scholars, one student recently shared how the scholarship and support services changed their life after applying to over 100 scholarships in 2025. With financial aid covering tuition and access to career counseling, this student has achieved the highest academic achievements as both a Dean's List and College Academics awardee.

A grant recipient from last year was able to tap BPI emergency funds after her car broke down and got the support she needed to make it to class as she pursues a career in nursing.

These stories highlight the real impact of combining scholarships with community support.

Looking Ahead: Continuing to Build Impact

As we move through the year, our focus remains on expanding access and deepening support for students. With a goal to support over 325 students in 2026, we plan to strengthen existing partnerships and explore new collaborations that address emerging needs.

Our goal is to ensure every student supported by BPI funds has the resources and encouragement needed to succeed. By investing in education and community, we build a foundation for long-term success that benefits individuals and society.

Supporting over 250 students since last year is a significant achievement, but it is just the beginning. Together with our partners and scholars, we look forward to creating more opportunities and positive outcomes in the months ahead.
